This hybrid orchid is relatively new, registered in 2010. The cross is producing some stunning flowers with mahogany petals and sepals outlined in yellow, and purple and white on the lip. The flowers will be nicely fragrant, too. The breeding on this one is Zygo. Imagination x Z. Helen-Ku. Pictured is one of the first bloomers. These are clones and all the flowers should look like those pictured. These are large seedlings, 9 or 10 inches high measured from the bottom of the 3.5 inch pots. We think they are two years or a little more from first flowering, but well worth the wait if you like to grow things. We always ship the largest. This species orchid is one of the easiest to grow, and has been used extensively in hybridizing. But it's quite nice in its own right. The flower has a wonderful white dorsal, sometimes with a purple stripe. Petals and pouch are olive green with some mahogany. Spicerianum is native to parts of northeast India and northwest Burma, where it has been found growing on limestone outcrops, in humus filled indentations. Ours are quite large with several growths, and they are in 3.5 inch pots. We expect many of these will flower next fall. Spicerianum makes a nice addition to any paph collection. Paphs make great house plants because they are easy to grow -- moderate to low light, keep from drying out completely, fertilize weakly every three or four weeks. Good air movement helps. These are pretty good size plants, and most have bloomed at least once already, so we know they are blooming size. The flowers are beautiful, a rich, dark, velvety lavender/purple outlined in white. The breeding here is Dendrobium Dark Red x Dendrobium Suzanne Neil. These are mericlones of a really nice example of this complex hybrrid. It's relatively new, first registered in 2007. Dens are pretty easy to grow and this makes for a good beginner plant. We include free instructions. These have several growths and stand 16 inches high or more, measured from the bottom of the 4-inch pot. They can get quite large, but you can always divide them if they threaten to get too big. This one is Miltoniopsis Princess Diana 'HOF', a beautiful orchid. It will put out stunning flowers with a waterfall lip. These have several pseudobulbs. When they bloom, the flowers should last 4 to 5 weeks if cared for properly. Multiple spikes are common. The breeding on this mericlone is Miltoniopsis Pearl Ono x Miltoniopsis warscewiczii. These orchids are in 3.5-inch pots and they tend to be spring and fall bloomers. They are blooming size, likely to flower within 18 months or so if properly grown. We think they are actually more likely to bloom next spring. They currently stand 12 to 14 inches high or more measured from the bottom of the pot. NOT in flower now. Often called "The Pansy Orchid," many of them have a wonderful fresh fragrance. For home and hobby growers, we recommend them as a house plant.
