Santa Barbara Sunset 'Showtime' is very stable primary hybrid producing gracefully arching spikes of art-shade flowers, each spike crowned with a rich cluster of up to 5 flowers. Old gold flowers with a dark rose overlay, accented with a dark velvety magenta lip. A classic of the cattleya family which never fails to please! This orchid is a vigorous grower and a prolific slightly fragrant bloomer. It consistently blooms off of each new growth and flowers in large impressive clusters. This hybrid was registered in 1997. The cross is producing some stunning red flowers dappled with cream and with a little fringe on the petals. The breeding on this one is Bulb. lasiochilum x Bulb. fascinator. Pictured is one of the first bloomers. These are mericlones and all the flowers should look like those pictured. Bulbos are found throughout most of the warmer parts of the world: Africa, Asia, Latin America even the West Indies, as well as some Pacific islands. This one has a number of pseudobulbs in a 3.5 inch pot, and we think it could bloom at any time now. Grow this warm and somewhat moist, but not sopping wet. Medium shade. Good air movement is very helpful. Fertilize weakly (3-3-3) every three or four weeks. Not recommended for beginners, but hey, you're welcome to try. Increase light slightly if you're having trouble getting it to bloom. Like a lot of bulbophyllums, this one is somewhat fragrant, and not always pleasantly so, but only if you stick your nose right up into the flower. You can buy with confidence. Cattleya Sea Breeze 'Blue Ribbon' HCC/AOS This clone definitely wins the prize for outstanding displays of oversized light blue flowers on compact plants. A wonderful combination of both parents (warneri x walkeriana), plus a heady floral fragrance. Dependable spring bloomer with up to six blooms per stem.

Laelia aurea tenebrosa 'Walton Grange' FCC/AOS x self. This new offering comes from the very rare, yellow form of this Brazilian species. We expect seedlings in a range of bright yellow to gold with dark throat markings. Foliage is more compact than many of this species and lighter in color.

This one will produce lovely lavender flowers, with some yellow in the center. This is a clone of Blc (or Rlc, if you insist) Rhyncholaeliocattleya Goldenzelle x Cattleya Dubiosa (1890), not yet awarded to our knowlege but likely to be, in our opinion. It's relatively new. Registered in 2006. If you're into cattleyas, this is a good one to have. We know Mary Jo and she is a great lady. These are in 3.5 inch pots and the longest leaves are 7 or 8 inches. We think they are 12 to 24 months from first flowering, which is our definition of near blooming size. These like bright indirect light and allow to get dry or almost dry between waterings. Cattleyas are good beginner orchids as they can stand a little abuse. We have a bunch of these and we'll pick out a nice one for you. We always ship the largest plant. You can buy with confidence. These are very nicely started and freshly repotted. This one looks a lot like the famous Miltassia Charles M Fitch 'Izumi' AM/AOS, but it has different breeding and if anything, even nicer flowers. The breeding is Bratonia Shelob x Bratonia Charles M. Fitch. This is a clone of the 'Lavender Taffy' cultivar, which has an 80-point AM, if you're into that sort of thing. It had 10 flowers on one spike. These are new, first registered in 2011. These seedlings are in 3.5 inch pots and they are probably 18 to 24 months from first flowering, but worth the wait in our opinion. We always ship the largest. The flowers are just stunning when they bloom. The color is a wonderful mottled lavender/purple on the petals and sepals, with a little olive green in the background; the large lip is a stunning lavender with some spots. They are easy to grow.
