Dendrobium tobaense var. giganteum Common Name: The Toba Dendrobium [A town in Sumatra] (You will receive a typical size plant shown in Picture #2) Near blooming size plants available- about 1-1.5 years from blooming. DESCRIPTION: This is a newer species discovered in 1993-Dendrobium tobaense was discovered in Northwest Sumatra on the North east shores of lake Toba. A larger form (var. giganteum) was discovered in 2011 and these are seedlings of that variety. The flowers are very waxy in texture, produce a slight fragrance and last up to 6-8 weeks in bloom. A slight lessening of water and fertilizer should occur through the winter months and should be resumed only with the initiation of new growth in the spring. Flower Size: 3" [7.5 cm].
