This kind of plant always gets oohs and ahs at our shows, and it makes a nice addition to any orchid collection. It's a really nice mericlone of an AM-awarded orchid. The breeding is Mtssa Olmec x Brs Edvah Loo. The flowers are large, spidery and gorgeous, approximately four to five inches from top to bottom. The color is mahogany and pink, with interesting olive green bands. The lip has beautiful pink tones. Mature plants can have multiple spikes, with 6 to 8 flowers on each spike. These are near blooming size with one or two pseudobulbs. They are freshly repotted into 4 inch pots. The longest leaves are 10 to 12 inches and we always ship the largest. These are likely to flower within 18 months or so, which is our definition of near blooming size. Please note that this orchid is not in flower now. This one is Miltoniopsis Lennart Karl Gottling 'Hula Skirt', in shades of red and dark red with a white waterfall lip, a beautiful orchid. It's blooming size but NOT in flower now. It will put out stunning red and white flowers that look like those pictured. The breeding on this mericlone is Miltoniopsis Timberline x Miltoniopsis Pearl Ono. These orchids are in 4-inch pots and they tend to be spring and fall bloomers. They are not in flower now. They currently stand 12 to 14 inches high or more measured from the bottom of the pot. We have a bunch of these and we'll pick out a nice one for you. We always ship the largest. Miltoniopsis orchids are cool growers. Often called "The Pansy Orchid," many of them have a wonderful fresh fragrance. For home and hobby growers, we recommend them as a house plant. Just give them moderate indirect light, water thoroughly three times a week, fertilize weakly every two weeks. Provide a temperature range of 60 to 75 degrees or so. These do very well under lights. The Epiphyllum-Oxypetalum (White) Queen of the night, A super fragrant night bloomer,that will produce beautiful large floowers ( about 6" wide ) like that shown,the blossoms open during the evening and extend into much of the next day,but the numrous amont of flowers produced on a single leaf is phenomenal! It goes by different name: Night blooming Cereus, Epiphyllum Oxipetalum or Orchid Catus. In our experience, this plant is very easy to care for. Simply dig a hole about 2" to 3", insert cutting side in and cover back up with soil. Keep the leaf about 5" above the soil and add water. Keep the plant in either partial or indirect sunlight. It can be grown in pot, or as we prefer, in a hanging basket with a well-draining soil blend.
