Air Plant (Ionantha Ionantha) is one of the most abundant in the Tillandsia family. They grow from Florida to Central and South America in forest canopies. When most people think Air Plant they are picturing the Ionantha . This plant ships between 2 and 3 inches and will grow taller, but not much taller. As the plant comes into bloom the silver green will give way to orange, then red, and a purple flower with a yellow center will emerge. Part of the reason Ionantha are so popular is because each one is a little different and they are all brimming with personality. The Ionantha 15 plant set contains 15 plants, 8 oz. Hinterland Trading Air Plant Fertilizer, and detailed care instructions. Air Plants (Tillandsia) get their common name from the fact they don’t require soil. They are epiphytes, which attach to other plants or trees for support. Their roots are only used to anchor themselves and are normally removed during cultivation for aesthetics. They are not parasitic, instead they gather micro nutrients from the air and water in structures called trichomes on their leaves. As the plant dries the trichomes take on a white powder look. After watering the plant will return to a vibrant green. Air Plants must dry fully between watering because they are susceptible to rot if left wet to long. These Air Plants will only bloom once, but after the bloom they can form up to 12 “Pupsâ€, or offspring, at their base. The main plant will slowly be on its way out, but the Pups will continue to thrive and will separate when mature. Air Plants prefer filtered sunlight as their natural home is under tree canopy. This makes them perfect house plants. Air Plant care is pretty simple. Upon arrival give your plants a good hour or two soak in a shallow bowl of water. Our plants are shipped on the drier side to avoid rot while in transit. Place the plants root/base side up and out of the water. The base is the area susceptible to rot if left wet to long. Over the course of an hour you will see the plant fill up and turn bright green. Once it is full, take the plants out, shake them gently to remove any excess water and let them dry before placing them in the terrarium. You can mist the plants a few times a week or repeat the soaking once a week or a combination of the two. Their needs will vary with their environment, but after a few weeks you will be able to read your plant like a book. Just remember the best thing you can do for your plant is to let it dry completely between watering. Air Plants like as much filtered sunlight as they can get. Anywhere within 8 feet of a window that gets light for the better part of the day will work. If that’s not possible they can live on artificial light, but the source has to be pretty close like a desk lamp. They like sleeping as much as we do so at least 6 hours of darkness per day will work and 10 would be ideal. As tempting as it is, use your Hinterland Trading Air Plant Fertilizer sparingly. Just a few pumps every other week when watering. As a special treat you can collect rainwater for your Air Plant, the nutrients in rainwater or pond water are more abundant than in the air or tap water, but this is not necessary.

Mini Ferns for Terrariums/Fairy Garden - 5 Different Plants-2" Pots
Brand: Hirt's Gardens
Building Your Own Terrarium It's a lot easier than you may think! First, make sure that you have all the required materials for building your terrarium. The most important of these, of course, is the terrarium itself. Virtually any type of clear plastic or glass container will work just fine. Bottles, fish bowls, jars, you name it. There are even special containers built just for terrariums. Your choices are endless; just make sure that you choose a clear container that's been cleaned with hot soapy water, as tinted or cloudy glass or plastic will interfere with plant growth by reducing light.
You will receive a live healthy medium sized B52 Giant Venus Flytrap Plant. B52 is a giant clone that makes traps 1.75 inches across when fully grown. It is one of the largest, if not the largest, giant Venus Flytrap clones. B52s are all the same plant. They are all genetically identical. Your B52 comes with a 3 inch net pot, moss appropriate for carnivorous plant soil loosely packed, and a full page detailed care sheet, written by an experienced Venus Flytrap grower specifically designed for beginners, explaining how to take care of Venus Flytraps. All you will need is a bowl or saucer to hold the Venus Flytrap's pot that it comes with and a little bit of water, a gallon or so of reverse osmosis or distilled water, and a sunny window or a place in the yard to put your Venus Flytrap's pot in. Humidity domes and year round warm weather are not necessary. Don't be fooled by other offers for Venus Flytraps that have them arrive in or with terrariums or humidity domes. These type of plants have strong light requirements and it is a myth that they need high humidity. The truth is that Venus Flytrap setups with terrariums or humidity domes almost always cause these types of plants to eventually die. They need to be grown in open air with containers that allow air to get into their soil and there should be little to block or diffuse their lighting. Venus Flytraps take about 2-3 years from seed to reach a decent size. A kit with Venus Flytrap seeds is not going to quickly turn into a...

Hi. I’m your new Marimo (Japanese) Cladophora Ball, or Moss Ball (English). I am a rare algae growth that only forms in a few lakes in Iceland, Scotland, Japan and Estonia. Many cultures consider me good luck. I’m very easy to care for. Just place me in a container with tap water and change it every one or two weeks. Please rinse anything you add to my container to keep my home clean. You don’t need to feed me. I don’t require anything but low light and clean water to live. Please don’t put me in direct sunlight. We don’t get much of that on the lake floor, so I don’t like it. I am most comfortable in normal to low household lighting. The gentle lake currents give me my beautiful round shape. If you gently swirl my water every once in a while that would be great. As a special treat you could even take me out and gently roll me across your palm. I sink or float depending on my mood (oxygen produced by the photosynthesis moves me up and down.) If I turn brown you can help me by replacing my water, squeezing me under running water to wash out any dirt, and adding about 5% table salt to my water. I will recover quickly. Also, a night in the fridge is like a week at the spa for me as I prefer cold water. I can live up to 200 years and grow about .5cm per year. Thanks for being so kind to me. Now I’m going to get to work being awesome.
