Dionaea muscipula (Venus Fly Trap) 'Dente'

Dionaea muscipula (Venus Fly Trap) 'Dente' is a cultivar of the well known carnivorous plant the Venus Flytrap. The Venus Fly Trap is native to the wetlands on the eastern coast of the United States and is a fascinating plant. Dionaea muscipula 'Dente' has a smaller trap then other Venus Fly Traps with short teeth and it also has narrow leaves. All Venus Fly Traps feed on insects and each trap will close twice and then die. Never fertilize a Venus Fly Trap as that would be fatal to the plant. Venus Fly Traps get all of the nutrients they need to survive from feeding on insects. Venus Fly Traps require a dormant period. Hardy in zones 6-10 Container Gardens/Terrariums/Houseplant: Dionaea muscipula (Venus Fly Trap) 'Dente' will do well in a terrarium or container garden. It also makes a great houseplant provided that the soil remain wet enough. Venus Fly Traps have high water needs and should be planted in a good quality, well draining carnivorous plant soil.
