This one is a clone of an orchid that produces spectacular pink flowers with a hint of yellow in the centers. The common name is Miltonidium, but these days they go by Vuylstekeara. The breeding is Oncidium Wally Curry x Miltonia Guanabara. This is the 'Rio' cultivar. But forget all that orchid-speak and just enjoy the flowers when they bloom. These are in spike now. The flowers can be two to three inches across, and there can be 7 to 8 or more on a single stem. Mature plants can have multiple spikes all at once. Spectacular! These plants stand 16 inches high or more. They have three or four pseudobulbs. They're easy to grow, too. Medium light and water are best, fertilize weakly twice a month. This one is Miltoniopsis Arnold Linsman 'Hot & Spicy' AM/AOS, a beautiful orchid. It will put out stunning flowers like the picture. These have several pseudobulbs. When they bloom, the flowers should last 4 to 5 weeks if cared for properly. The breeding on this mericlone is Miltoniopsis Andy Easton x Mps. Leo Holguin. These orchids are in 3.5-inch pots and they tend to be spring and fall bloomers. They are near blooming size, likely to flower in 18 months or so if properly grown. They currently stand 12 to 14 inches high or more measured from the bottom of the pot. We have a bunch of these and we'll pick out a nice one for you. We always ship the largest. They are NOT in flower now. Miltoniopsis orchids are cool growers. Often called "The Pansy Orchid," many of them have a wonderful fresh fragrance. This hybrid is relatively new, and the cross is producing some stunning flowers -- some flowers are almost translucent, white with hints of yellow. Others are classic green and white. The breeding on this one is Paphiopedilum Memoria Nicholas Hamann 'Jacqueline's Delight' x Paphiopedilum Spring Moonbeam 'Green Goddess'. Pictured is one of the first bloomers. You can expect there to be some variety in the flowers, as this is a seed cross, but all should be really pretty. This plant is blooming size, which we define as likely to flower within a year or so. These have a leaf span of 8 to 9 inches, and they are in 3.5 inch pots. These are easy to grow -- relatively low light, keep from drying out completely, fertilize weakly (3-3-3) every three or four weeks.
