A Dwarf Ginkgo Just Two Feet High after 10 Years!
Spectacular Golden Fall color!
This male cultivar has no messy fruits!
Extremely dwarf and slow-growing, this splendid male Ginkgo is a mutation discovered in Holland in 1995. Ideal for bonsai, containers, and small-space gardens, its exquisite fan-shaped foliage is in proportion to its overall size.
Delightfully curled and cupped new foliage of celery green turns bright yellow before dropping in autumn. These leaves are unlike any other in the garden, and when they fall they create a bright pool of color on the garden or patio floor, standing out brilliantly!
After several decades' growth 'Mariken' may reach 3 to 5 feet high; after 10 years it will have achieved only about 2 feet in height and 2 feet in width. Very rare and choice! Zones 4-8
Also known as the "Maidenhair Tree", purported to be the oldest tree species on the planet today. Used as shade trees and also in Bonsai creation ,Ginkgo Nuts are an Asian delicacy , and the leaves are used to increase bloodflow to the brain and as an aid to memory related disorders.

The Japanese Juniper is a hardy evergreen, found in temperate regions of the world. Junipers generally have a naturally flowing or "cascading" shape of long, trailing branches, and can be trained into many amazing Bonsai shapes. The branches usually respond well to wiring and reshaping. As an indoor bonsai, the Japanese Juniper should be in a very bright, but cool location. A south, west or east window is ideal. For best growth temperatures should not exceed 70 degrees Fahrenheit for an extended period of time. 60 to 70 degrees is ideal. If the air is dry in your home grow the bonsai on a humidity tray

Good Gift ideal for everyone want to watch their own bonsai grow from seeds. Good education and learning experience. The "General Sherman" is a giant sequoia growing in Sequoia National Park, California, that happens to be the largest living thing on Earth. This tree is 275' tall and its crown spreads 107'. The trunk is more than 26' in diameter. The General Sherman is believed to be 2,500 years old, and weigh more than 1000 tons. John Muir called the giant sequoia "the noblest of a noble race." The giant sequoia is a columnar or cone-shaped tree, losing its lower branches and becoming flat-topped with age. Trees more than 100 years old typically are free of branches to a height of 100' or more. In cultivation, giant sequoias usually grow no more than 60-100' tall and retain their lower branches which may droop down to touch the ground and sometimes take root. The reddish brown bark is very thick (up to 20" thick) and deeply fissured. The bright gray-green leaves are scale-like, sharp-pointed, 1/4" long, overlapping each other, and completely covering the twigs. The egg shaped cones are 3" long, and remain on the tree for up to 20 years.

Ikebana as an art form
Ikebana (ee-kay-bah-nah) is the art of Japanese flower arranging. The object is simply to create something of beauty for the delight of others and, in so doing, improve yourself. The artist sees it as a discipline of the inner spirit for the ultimate purification of the mind and heart. No judging of the work is conducted.
Dating back to the 15th Century, this art form reflects three fundamental characteristics of Japanese thinking: an innate love of nature, an abiding love of line, and an instinctive love of symbolism. For the Japanese, flowers signify communion with the heart of nature.
Through the centuries, ikebana has grown to incorporate 23 leading schools. The first, Ikenobo (15th Century), advocates using the natural bend of branches. This school, together with Sogetsu, Ohara and Misho would be considered the leading schools.
The Sogetsu School has emerged as an exemplary contemporary school whose arrangements fit seamlessly in today's modern and traditional d/cor. The goal of your arrangement is to create three levels of flowers -- high, medium and low. The highest point should equal twice the width of your container, plus twice the height. The medium level is approximately 3/4 of the highest point, and the lowest point is 3/4 the height of the medium level. Asymmetry and the use of empty space is an essential feature to composition, so be sure not to clutter the arrangement with too many items. You can use any type of flower or branch to create your arrangement. But you should never use four of the same flower in a single arrangement. The tools for the art include a Kenzan (pin frog), Hasami (clippers or scissors ), and Hana (fresh flowers).www.hollowcreekbonsai.com.

The Juniper Bonsai is commonly regarded as the beginner bonsai, as for the easiness of care for the plant.
