Air Plant (Argentea) is an example of the great variety that can be found in the Tillandsia family and is an essential for any collection. The bulk of the plant is a small ball structure that grows hair like leaves in a sphere around it. When it blooms these leaves will thicken at the top and eventually form a tube that will extend 3 to 4 inches over the base. This tube structure will produce a flower with a spectacular red bud with blue and yellow flowers. This plant ship between 4 and 5 inches and will double in height as the blooming stalk forms. Air Plants (Tillandsia) get their common name from the fact they don’t require soil. They are epiphytes, which attach to other plants or trees for support.
