Rhynchostylis is an Asian genus known as the "Foxtail Orchid" because of their brush like racemes of colorful flowers. The stems are short and flowers have a backward pointing spur on lip. Flowers are 1" in diameter, long-lasting, very fragrant and has good substance. You are browsing on a near blooming size plant (about 1.5-2 years from blooming). These plants at least 3 years old and have been newly transplanted into a plastic basket. SIZE: Plant is potted in 4" basket.

SM/TPS Common Name: Rothschild's Paphiopedilum (You will receive a typical size plant shown in Picture #2) PLEASE NOTE: Since this is a Seedling Population (not a Mericlone which produces exact duplicates), the picture #1 is for illustration purposes only. DESCRIPTION: This plant is a medium to large sized, clear leafed, multi-flowered, hot to warm growing terrestrial. Found in northern Borneo on steep slopes and cliff faces and grow in elevations of 500 to 1800 meters. Flowers usually are 5-6" in diameter and can last up to 4 weeks in bloom. Paphiopedilum rothschildianum, is an orchid that is on top of the endangered species list, and is used to make many of the multi-flowering paph hybrids that you see today. Dendrobium tobaense var. giganteum Common Name: The Toba Dendrobium [A town in Sumatra] (You will receive a typical size plant shown in Picture #2) Near blooming size plants available- about 1-1.5 years from blooming. DESCRIPTION: This is a newer species discovered in 1993-Dendrobium tobaense was discovered in Northwest Sumatra on the North east shores of lake Toba. A larger form (var. giganteum) was discovered in 2011 and these are seedlings of that variety. The flowers are very waxy in texture, produce a slight fragrance and last up to 6-8 weeks in bloom. A slight lessening of water and fertilizer should occur through the winter months and should be resumed only with the initiation of new growth in the spring. Flower Size: 3" [7.5 cm].
